A Married Couple Gets Hyper About Their Irresponsible And Excessive Drinking And Contemplates Whether They Display Any Alcohol Dependency Signs
Lenny and Angie have been married for nine years. They wanted to experience some excitement and fun before they decided to have some kids and so they intentionally developed a super vibrant social life.
The key difficulty, it needs to be stressed, is that very nearly everything they do to have fun somehow includes drinking. For example, all of the sporting events, family get-togethers, parties with friends, dinner engagements, and happy hours they spend time at have something to do with drinking.
If they were responsible or moderate drinkers this wouldn't be such a difficult situation. Given the fact that they drink rather excessively, however, they are beginning to see some definite alcohol-related difficulties in their lives.
For example, just a few days ago Lenny was placed in custody for a third DWI and has been leaving early from work because of alcohol-related health problems. Not only this, but Lenny's last three performance evaluations at the office have been less than adequate and he has begun to fail to recall what he says or does while he drinks. As a final point, Lenny has been going through sleep-related problems and his family is starting to exhibit some uneasiness about his drinking situation.
Angie, on the other hand, has been feeling unhappy with life in general and to manage these feelings, she has been drinking more regularly than any time in the past four years. What is more, Angie has been getting quite a few throbbing headaches and suffering from agonizing hangovers because of her drinking. As a final point, Angie has been feeling substantially less active when she awakens, she has been showing up late for work, and she has been getting some negative criticism from her friends, coworkers, relatives, and family members about her hazardous and careless drinking.
One Sunday evening while watching the television, Lenny and Angie accidentally discovered a remarkable program about alcohol facts and alcoholism facts in general and about the signs of alcoholism in particular. This TV special was a real source of revelation to Angie and Lenny because quite a few of the alcohol facts that were featured appeared as if they were indisputably correlated with more than a few of the drinking issues Lenny and Angie had been experiencing.
With thoughts of the television documentary still imprinted in her mind, Angie asked Lenny if some of the alcoholism signs they have been manifesting could be an indication that they are alcohol dependent or maybe becoming alcohol dependent. Lenny didn't know the answer to Angie's question and so he recommended that they schedule an appointment with one of the physicians at the local drug and alcohol abuse rehab center to find out more about the seriousness of their drinking issues.
Ironically, although their drinking circumstances hadn't yet changed, it was noticeable that Angie and Lenny were at the very least dealing with their drinking problems, they were enthusiastic about finding out more about their drinking situation, and they were concerned about how they could notably cut down the severity or do away with the alcohol-related difficulties that had started to escalate.
When Angie and Lenny went to bed that evening, they came to a decision that the next day, Lenny would call and schedule an appointment for both of them at the substance abuse treatment clinic located downtown just outside of the business district. After they promised one another that they would do whatever it takes to surmount the alcohol-related problems that had become apparent in their lives, they truly had the most peaceful night's sleep they could recall in the last nine months.
