Most people have no idea what it really is, let alone how to use Web2 to make money online. Ask anybody the meaning of the term Web2, and they will give you their own interpretation. They might mention YouTube and MySpace because that is their experience, or perhaps even social bookmarking sites such as del.icio.us.com, but not really understand the rest.
In fact using Web2 to make money involves understanding the whole gamut of alternative websites, and how to use them to your advantage to advertise your website, blog or products in order to make money. There are ways to make money using Web2 sites legally if you set about it the right way. First, in order to give you an idea of the scope of the term, Web2, let me list a few of the websites that comprise them in addition to del.icio.us that is a social bookmarking site. There are also an increasing number of social networking sites and pseudo-websites to choose from, and each and every one of them can be used to make money online.
We have the social bookmarking sites Spurl, Furl, Blink, Stumbleupon, Diggit and among others, and also Technorati that focuses on blogs. I can hear you say that you have heard of all these, and more. Well, how about Wisheo, Baveo, Bojam and Shiftr, Tring me, Unigo, Scrumy and Cligs? Nope? Well I haven’t even started!
You don’t have to register with every Web2 site, but if you want to use Web2 to make money online you should know what is currently hot - and it’s not always what you think so keep checking up online. However, there are some sites with which you can’t go wrong, such as the social networking sites YouTube, MySpace, Facebook, Friendster and Squidoo which is more of a pseudo-website.
Let’s focus on these. YouTube not only allows you to publish your own videos, and include your own ads on each video, but also to download videos, put your own watermark on them, and then republish them. The watermark can be use to advertise your product, website or blog. YouTube is a great way to advertise since there are no restrictions and you can blatantly display your website or product, and even show it being used.
You can use YouTube to show potential customers how to use your product on video, even using video applications to display how specific forms of software should be used to best effect. Each video can be viewed by literally billions of people, so if you can make it compelling, you have a massive customer base out there.
MySpace allows you to have your very own free webpage, and you can use that to advertise your products, and also to provide links to your regular web pages. It’s just like being provided with a free advertising website, so make use of it! You will be missing out if you don’t. Registration is easy and it is free! How much free advertising do you need to make money? The old-time offline advertisers would bite your arm off to get these opportunities!
Facebook also allows you your own web page, on which you can post photographs, your products and your website and blog links. You can also use your Funwall to promote your business. Facebook is great for free backlinks back to your website. The same is true of Technorati with which you don’t get a webpage, but you can use it to post all of your blogs and websites, and ping them automatically when you make any changes. Other members can find your site and products with a regular search and you get backlinks to improve your Google PageRank.
Squidoo is another Web2 site that offers you a free web page of your own of virtually unlimited length. Squidoo can be used just like a regular website, and many Squidoo lenses, as the pages are referred to, are listed on the top pages on Google. This is a great solution for people that have no idea how to set up a website, since they are provided with the tools needed to get a page set up and listed on the search engines.
Blogs are not strictly Web2 sites, but blogs are another way to make money online without using a regular website. Quite frankly, with all these Web2 sites available, it is perfectly possible to make a lot of money online without using a regular website.
The rule of thumb is advertising. In fact may make money from Craigslist, some thousands weekly, although you have to renew your advert on a regular basis. The secret is to learn how to use each to its best advantage, since each site has its own idiosyncrasies, but once you have done that then the sky is the limit.
The way how to use Web2 to make money online is to register with as many such sites as you can, and learn how to use them. You can then take advantage of that knowledge to make the best use of the free advertising offered on these websites, some of which have millions of users every day.
